Jackson's session was recorded in 1949 when he was only 25. The tracks were later issued on his first 12 inch release for Savoy. The line up was Milt Jackson, Julius Watkins, Billy Mitchell, Bill Massey, Walter Bishop Jr., Nelson Boyd and Joe Haynes and they play Hearing Bells, Junior, Blueology and Bubu.
The other side features Terry Gibbs, Hal McKusic, Sal Salvador, Harry Biss, Jimmy Johnson and Sid Bulkin play Sings the Thing, Begin the Beguine, Serenade in Blue and I've Got You Under My Skin. I have no idea where this material came from but is very early for Gibbs.

Bert Williams was best known as a stage performer and vaudeville pioneer. This recording was made just 3 short years before his untimely death after collapsing on a stage in Detroit and was the first record made by him in 1919. He left an amazing legacy of sound in his recordings from 1901 to 1922. Booker T. Washington claimed that Bert Williams did more for his race by singing and acting than Washington did in his books.
