Original 10" LP on red wax in envelope style cover. VERY RARE! Record is very clean but there is one light surface scratch that clicks a couple of times and a few other sleeve scuffs that do not sound. Overall not a very good pressing or it might be the quality of the transfers. Cover has some staining from the glue holding the cover text piece but is in very nice shape otherwise. These recordings were originally made in 1929-1930 for the Gennett label. Delmark released a CD of his music in 2006 but none of the tunes on this 10" are on the CD.

Music > 78 RPM
Condition: EX-
Label: Columbia
Reference Number: A2710

Date: 1919

This 78 from 1919 has several scratches but still plays well and has not been destroyed by early Victrolas like so many 78s from this era.

Bert Williams was best known as a stage performer and vaudeville pioneer. This recording was made just 3 short years before his untimely death after collapsing on a stage in Detroit and was the first record made by him in 1919. He left an amazing legacy of sound in his recordings from 1901 to 1922. Booker T. Washington claimed that Bert Williams did more for his race by singing and acting than Washington did in his books.
